Trip Introduction
One day hiking in Chandragiri allows hikers to view the Himalayas from the rims of Kathmandu. A short stay in Kathmandu at this destination makes it a perfect gateway for explorers. Chandragiri Hill lies southwest of Kathmandu, just 7 kilometres from the valley. A mountain 2250 m high that offers a beautiful view of the whole Kathmandu valley and surrounding white mountains, including the Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Makalu, Saipal, Manaslu and more. We start our walk by heading toward the remote countryside from the cable car area. You can smoothly & confidently cross the tuff, soft, uneven pathways on the trail. Nature begins to reveal its splendour as we start the ascent. We see Kingfishers, Mynas, Grey Wagtails, Sparrows, Egrets, Grey Doves, and others.
As the walk progresses to the top of Chandragiri mountain, we can smell the wet mud and hear chirping birds, making the walk more memorable and pleasant. We will enjoy a cable car ride back to our starting point. It is difficult to describe how ethereal it is to float above the green forests, surrounded by clouds.
